2. What we use and why

We use a minimal set of technologies to keep the service functional and secure. Where we use optional analytics/marketing cookies, we will request consent.

• Strictly necessary: required for login sessions, security, and core site behaviour.
• Preference: remembers choices like default settings (often stored in local storage rather than cookies).
• Payments (Stripe): Stripe may set cookies on its checkout flow to prevent fraud and process payments securely.
• Analytics (optional): if enabled later, helps us understand what to improve. We treat this as non-essential and ask for consent.

3. Local storage (app data on your device)

The PropertyScout app stores some data locally on your device to improve speed and usability. This is not advertising tracking — it’s operational UX.

• Scan defaults and preferences (e.g., default location, price range).
• Recent scan snapshot, saved items, and viewed state (to support fast triage).

You can clear this from inside the app settings (“Reset local cache”).

4. Third-party cookies

Some third parties may set cookies when you use their embedded services. The main example is Stripe during checkout. These cookies are controlled by Stripe and used for security and payment processing.

5. Managing cookies

You can manage cookies in your browser settings (block, delete, or limit). Be aware that disabling strictly necessary cookies may break login, sessions, and core functionality.

If we add non-essential cookies (analytics/marketing), we will provide a consent choice and an easy way to withdraw that choice.
