Privacy Policy

This policy explains how PropertyScout collects, uses, and protects personal data when you visit our website, create an account, or use the app.

Last updated: 23 January 2026

1. Who we are

PropertyScout (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a UK-focused property search and deal analysis service. For data protection purposes, we are the data controller of personal data processed through our website and app.

Contact: info-contact@propertyscout-ai.com.

2. Personal data we collect

  • Account data: email address, and any details you provide when creating an account. Passwords (when enabled) are stored hashed — never in plain text.
  • Billing data: subscription status and transaction references from Stripe. We do not store full card details.
  • Usage data: app interactions that help operate the service (e.g., searches, saved items, preferences), plus technical logs used for security and debugging.
  • Support communications: information you send us (emails, messages, attachments) when you contact support.
  • Newsletter / updates (optional): if you join our list, we collect your email and basic subscription metadata (such as when and where you signed up).
  • Device & connection data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and cookie/local storage data used for security, session handling, and basic site functionality.

We do not intentionally collect special category data (e.g., health, political opinions).

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the website and app, and to operate account access.
  • To process payments, manage subscriptions, and prevent fraud.
  • To respond to support requests and service enquiries.
  • To maintain security, detect abuse, and keep the service reliable.
  • To improve the product (e.g., fix bugs, improve performance, refine UX).
  • To send product updates and newsletters where you’ve opted in, and to honour unsubscribe requests.

4. Legal bases for processing

  • Contract: to provide the service you sign up for.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, and improve the service (balanced against your rights).
  • Consent: for optional marketing emails and non-essential cookies (where used).
  • Legal obligation: for tax/accounting records and compliance requests.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We share data only where necessary:

  • Stripe (payments and subscription management).
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers (to run the site/app, store logs, and keep services available).
  • Email/newsletter providers (if you opt in).
  • Professional advisers (legal/accounting) when required.
  • Authorities where we’re legally required to comply.

6. International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we use appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) to protect your data.

7. Data retention

  • Account data: retained while your account is active, and for a reasonable period after closure to handle disputes, fraud prevention, and compliance.
  • Billing records: retained as required by tax/accounting laws (often up to 6 years).
  • Support communications: retained as needed to resolve issues and improve the service.
  • Marketing emails: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

You can request deletion; some data may need to be retained for legal obligations.

8. Security

We use practical security controls appropriate for an online service (access controls, encryption in transit, and restricted admin access). No system is 100% secure, but we design to minimise risk and respond quickly if issues arise.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location (UK GDPR / EU GDPR), you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (with legal limits).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent (e.g., marketing emails) at any time.
  • Data portability (in certain cases).

To exercise rights, email info-contact@propertyscout-ai.com. If you’re in the UK, you can also complain to the ICO.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for core functionality and security. See our Cookie Policy for details.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top.

Important note
If analytics, tracking, or third-party tooling is added in future, this policy and cookie controls will be updated to reflect those changes.
